IN line with its corporate social responsibility and contribution to local community and Corporate Citizenship, Novartis Pharma Services English Speaking West Africa is holding a blood donation drive to raise 120 pints of blood through voluntary donation.

The event, scheduled to take place at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi Araba, Lagos officially marks Novartis Community Partnership Day is aimed at saving lives through education and encouragement of the general public on the importance of saving lives through voluntary non-remunerated blood donation.

Novartis management explained that the “120 Lives Saved Project” is aimed at giving blood free to the community as part of its commitment to saving lives and addressing the paucity of blood by encouraging voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation among Novartis English West Africa Associates with the expectation that this will bridge the gap in blood availability in Nigeria.

“Safe blood saves lives – but, for many patients in Nigeria whose survival depends on blood transfusion, blood is neither available nor safe. By motivating potential donors to donate blood voluntarily on a regular basis we will at least be achieving a safe and sustainable supply of blood.”
