LAGOS—The Federal Government  yesterday in Lagos,  said it would spare nothing at providing  adequate security at the nation’s Free Trade Zones across the country  to guarantee economic development.

The government spoke through the National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd), in a keynote address he delivered at the 2014 Free Trade Zone, Security, Operations and Exhibition Summit organised by the National Assembly Anti-Money Laundering and Cyber Security Coalition.

Represented by Professor Soji Adelaja, a consultant on Economic Intelligence, the NSA said the Free Trade Zones, FTZs, were key to the nation’s economic development, hence the interest by the government to protect businesses in these FTZs.

According to him, “Let me reassure you that all our related critical assets are at the forefront of our national security strategy. Our security infrastructure will be relentless in ensuring that our FTZs are protected.”
The NSA frowned at the inappropriate business practices, saying, “compromise our national security objectives, national integrity, economic viability, and economic independence.”
