Assistant Dean, Student Affairs, University of Benin, UNIBEN, Mr. Faith Osadolor, has condemned those he accused of being bent on spreading falsehood against the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. O. G Oshodin.

Osadolor,  reacting to allegations of ghost workers on the payroll of the university, said nothing of such existed in the institution.
He said: “As Dean of Student Affairs and Chairman, UNIBEN Security Committee, I am privy to the fact that there are no ghost workers within the system, neither are there cases of persons, who are not staff of the university, receiving salaries.
“We are aware of a petition by  one Samuel Kehinde, who is peddling  falsehood against the VC. I can tell you, he is no longer in the services of the University of Benin.

“Under the Vice Chancellor, the institution has declared zero tolerance to corruption with strict enforcement and I wonder where the petitioner is getting his claims.”
Osadolor said the petitioner was peddling rumours of bitterness.
The formal Director, Central Records Process Unit of the University of Benin, Mr Kehinde, had raised concern that there were some ghost workers on the pay-roll of the institution.
He claimed, in a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, that the ghost workers allegedly cost the university authorities about N50 million monthly  between January 2012 through 2013.
Kehinde, in a petition  addressed to the Chairman of EFCC, alleged that as former  chairman of the bursary computerization committee and sub-head of the staff biometric exercise of the university in 2012, a total of 4,817 staff biometric records were duly captured and documented and only 74 staff records were compiled as those that were unavoidably absent during the biometric exercise.

He said: “I wish to draw your attention to the systemic and permanent drain of the University of Benin funds by the monthly payment of salaries to ghost workers in the persons of staff members on leave of absence (who were not entitled to salaries of any kind) retired and dead persons.
“From the summary of the monthly salaries paid, those found on the payroll that did not take part in the biometric exercise, led to the discovery of fraud in which there were duplications in the payment of salaries.”
