The Northern States Governors’ Forum, yesterday, expressed shock and deep sadness over the crash.

The Chairman and Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the crash with a view to preventing a recurrence.

According to a statement signed by Aliyu’s Spokesman, Mr Danladi Ndayebo, in Minna the governor urged the Federal Government to probe the crash, stressing that “this latest crash must not be allowed to go the way of the previous ones.

“The safety of the flying public must be of paramount importance to those saddled with the responsibility of ensuring safe air travels. No stone should be left unturned in ensuring this.”

He condoled with the government and people of Ondo State, the family of late Agagu and the families of those who died in the crash.

Aliyu prayed God to give them the fortitude to bear the loss, grant the deceased eternal rest and quick recovery to those who sustained injuries.

The Kwara State governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed also commiserated with the government and people of Ondo State over the death of some government officials in a plane crash in Lagos.

Ahmed’s condolence is contained in a statement signed in Ilorin by his Chief Press Secretary,  Abdulwahab Oba.

Ahmed, who described the incident as very shocking, said that the state had lost some of its vibrant officials at the time their services were needed most.

“This is very tragic, considering the fact that these people were trying to give honour and pay their last respect to their loved one,” he said.

Ahmed said that the late Agagu, during his tenure as governor, contributed to the growth of Ondo State and Nigeria in general.

He condoled with the families of the late governor and the government officials involved in the crash. He prayed that God would grant the families the fortitude to bear the loss.

In Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State, Governor Ibikunle Amosun described the plane crash, as regrettable.

“I join the entire nation, especially the government and people of Ondo State, in lamenting this monumental disaster,” Amosun said and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased and wished those who sustained injuries a speedy recovery.
