Lagos Int’l T/Tennis Classics:  ITTF boss commends LOC

The executive vice president of the International Table Tennis Federation, Cherif Hajem has commended the Local Organising Committee of the Lagos International Table Tennis Classics for putting up what he described as “a flawless tournament”.

Speaking yesterday in an interview with the media at Teslim Balogun stadium, Cherif Hajem said “I’m happy and surprised that within four weeks the committee has organised a competition of this magnitude”.

Reviewing the development of table tennis in the continent, the ITTF executive vice president said “We are growing step by step. We should have many players among the first 100 in the world. We have had players who won medals in the World Junior Championships.

As regards the standard of play, he said “the standard is good. We have the African and Mediterranean Games champion Omar Assar of Egypt, the Tunisian champion and other top players from Nigeria, Congo, Italy among other countries  here. The standard is okay”.
