Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare will get the chance to rub her shoulders against world women 100m greats including Olympic champions Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Allyson Felix today at the Diamond League meet in Eugene, Oregon USA.

Okagbare has made a good start to her season jumping a wind assisted 7.14m at the Doha leg of the Diamond League, she also did 11.00 seconds at the Shanghai meet. However, these performances have not put her in the commanding position in the league. She needs to come up with a big performance this afternoon to increase her points haul. She has garnered just two points compared to Fraser-Pryce’s four.

Olympic silver medalist Carmelita Jeter of the U.S. has withdrawn due to injury, but there is still a stocked field, including Jamaicans Fraser-Pryce, Kerron Stewart and Veronica Campbell-Brown who claimed bronze. There is also Olympics 200m gold medalist Felix and Cote’d Ivoire’s Murielle Ahoure.

USA’s Justin Gatlin and Jamaica’s Nesta Carter are among those to line up in the men’s 100m, while Walter Dix contests the 200m, the distance for which he holds the meeting and stadium record.

Another set of London 2012 Olympic medallists are in action in the Bowerman Mile, which annually closes the Prefontaine Classic. Olympic 1500m cham-pion Taoufik Makhloufi of Algeria will be making his US debut as he takes on the mile distance for the first time.
