National President of Building Collapse Prevention Guild (BCPG), Mr. Kunle Awobodu, has appealed to builders and other stakeholders to with government to prevent buildings collapse, by complying with the Lagos State Building Law 2010 and shunning quacks. He also urged the public to act as the watch dog by reporting any infringement on building law to the authorities.
Awobodu spoke at a meeting of professionals comprising builders, architects, engineers and estate development managers convened to strategise on zero-building collapse in Lagos.
Town planning consultant and Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the guild, Mrs Kehinde George, reiterated the need for every building to have an approved plan by the town planning body, if zero building collapse must be achieved. In furtherance of the awareness campaign activities,Awobodu, George and Arc.Augustine Otuoke, Chairman, Amuwo Odofin cell of the guild, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Comrade Adewale Ayodele, to solicit his support on a summit on building collapse in the area.
