NSF: Athletes complain of poor menu, another hails accommodation

The Kaduna State contingent to the 18th National Sports Festival (NSF) on Monday decried the poor menu provided by organisers of the festival at the Games Village at the University of Lagos (Unilag).

They also complained of poor distribution of water at the Fagunwa Hall of the university.

Some of the athletes who spoke yesterday said that there was need for the replacement of some bad electrical fittings in the hostels.

Some of the athletes also said they may be compelled to sleep outside the hostels because of the harsh smell of the painting that was still fresh.

Ezekiel John, a hockey player, said the upper floor of the hall could do with a better water distribution system, noting that something had to be done so that athletes would not have to go downstairs whenever they needed water.

“The upper floor of the Fagunwa Hall has a problem with water. We are forced to always move downstairs each time we need water.

“That is not good enough, the officials should please correct the situation. The quantity of food given to us is also very little and not enough for me,” he added.

Moses Itodo, who also complained of the poor menu, noted that a nutritionist ought to have been hired and not just mere caterers.

Paul Mac, assistant coach (Hockey), complained about the number of athletes per room, saying that they were up to five in a room.

However, Enesi Junior fromKadunaState, a Technical Official for Cricket, commended the surroundings, saying that he could not have expected anything less from a school environment.

“The environment is okay. I have observed that whatLagosStatehas offered is better than what it used to be in terms of cleanliness.

“The accommodation is splendid because I could not have expected less from a university environment,” he said.
