Ahead of the planned automation of all the aviation agencies by the Federal Government, Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Engr Nnamdi Udoh has assured employees of the agency that such automation will not lead to loss of jobs.
Assuring the staffs during a meeting of the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), NAMA branch Engr. Udoh said that he would not be a party to signing any dismissal letter of any of his workers.He however implored the workers to work together in harmony as that was the only sure way to move the agency forward as well as bring progress.
According to him, NAMA has continued to forge ahead in spite of all criticisms stressing that the agency was based on solid foundation and strong focus of its management.
“Automation will never lead to job losses in this agency. I will not be party to signing any dismissal letter of any of my workers” he said.
While appreciating Engr. Udoh for his gesture, the President of the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) Comrade Safiyanu Mohammed said the union does not have any misunderstanding with the management of NAMA adding that there was only breakdown in communication between the duo.
Comrade Mohammed cautioned branch executives against discussing national issues with management as it was the responsibility of the national body.
In his address, the Coordinating chairman of NUATE NAMA, Comrade Ade Adekoya noted that the challenges facing the aviation industry was utmost in priority and urged the unions to see the need to work together to move the industry forward.
