BY DAYO ADESULU

Mrs Olufunto Igun, Executive Director, Corona School Trust Council has stated the need for our society to produce worthy role models that can assist the youth to take the right direction in life. “We need a lot of worthy role models in this country to show our youth the right direction.”

Speaking at the event that brought the alumni of Corona together for a sport activity, Igun noted that almost everywhere, you find someone who has gone to Corona School, you find them still living these values of high moral standards, ethical behaviour, integrity and commitment to excellence. According to her, the essence of the get-together was to create the awareness for an upcoming Alumni association meeting and help them bond and network so that current students will see in the alumni, worthy role models that they can look up to so that when they leave school, they could live by the values they have been taught.

She said, “The event was organised towards the end of the academic calendar so as to afford present students and alumni the opportunity to fully participate in the football competition. We are starting with football as the take-off sport, but as we progress in the years ahead, there are plans to also include all other sporting activities that will carry everybody along. Igun who commended Okechukwu Ofili, an outstanding alumnus of the school saying he is the prime motivator of the alumni move, adding that he has been building the database and contacting the old students.

On his part, Okechukwu Ofili, Corona set of 1998, while enumerating the success, pointed out that so far, they have been able to bring all alumni from all walks of life with the aim of networking saying, “We feel that the closer we are, the more we can achieve as a Corona brand.” Ofili said that one thing he likes about Corona is that they push integrity adding that they hope to continue in that stead with the forming of the Corona alumni.
