Nollywood is bound to erupt like a volcano when Diamond Pictures in collaboration with its distribution and marketing arm, Nollywood Cinemas hit the nation’s box office with two of their blockbuster movies, “Untamed’ and Spirit of the Assassin” soon.
The cinema run is coming weeks after the company’s successful outing in South Africa, Zambia and Lesotho with four of its thrilling movies including “Inale”, “Untamed”, “Spirit of the Assassin” and “Off the Hook.”
At a press preview of the two movies during the week, in Ikoyi, the director of the movies, Andy Boyo said “ we are fully back to let Nigerians especially movie buffs, to have a feel of these two wonderful and riveting movies, which will soon hit our major cinemas nationwide.
While “Üntamed”, featuring Patience Ozorkwo, Van Vicker, Chinwe Isaac, Deborah King among other Nollywood stars explores the inglorious and vexed issue of same sex marriage in the African society, “Spirit of the Assassin’ unravels the mysteries surrounding several high profile assassination within and outside the shores of the country. The feature is co-produced by Kingsley Esele, Bunmi Okeafor and Faith Stephen. The highly controversial movies full of unusual romance and love scenes will definitely thrill and enthrall movie buffs when it hits cinemas across the country from October 5. soon.
The synopsis according to Andy Boyo, the cerebral director of the contemporary movies significantly captures the plot of the story: “Legislation had just been passed outlawing same sex marriages in the community, Vera, Flora and Alice’s (Chinwe Isaac)attendance of the first ever gay wedding in the dead of the night, erupted into chaos. On the other hand, Johnny’s (van Vicker)upbringing by his mum was to respect women and abstain from sex before marriage.
Little did he realise that he would continue to remain a virgin even after marriage to Vera. The twist and turns of the events that occurred in Johnny; matrimonial home with Alice acting as referee reached a turning point that led to the unforeseeable.”
