A 30-year-old man, Taoreed Oseni, was over the week, arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Lagos for allegedly sexually assaulting an 18-year old girl, Azeez Titilayo.
Oseni who is dark in complexion hails from kwara State. He was alleged to have raped Titilayo in a church toilet at Oshodi, a Lagos suburb.
The accused whose residential address is unknown confessed to the court that he was moved by the dressing of his victim.
Prosecuting Police Inspector Rachael Williams, told the court that Oseni committed the offence on July 20. She said the accused sexually assaulted the young girl in a toilet at the Methodist Church, Ogunlende Street, Mafoluku, Oshodi.
The accused, she said, forced his way into the toilet without the girl’s consent.
The offence, Williams said, is punishable under Section 260 of the Criminal Law No. 11 Vol.44 Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011. When the one- count charge of rape was read to him, Oseni pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate A.B. Olagbegi-Adelabu ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody till September 20.
