VConnect Fever video sets new record on YouTube

YouTube, a video-sharing website, created by three former PayPal employees, debuted in 2005 and altered the entertainment landscape, especially creating a new model for video distribution and viewing.

The new media platform uses Adobe Flash Video and HTML5 to display a wide variety of user-generated video content, including movie clips, TV clips, music videos, asas amateur content such as video blogging short original videos.

The mass appeal that YouTube brought into video viewing has also made it a platform to rate a video content, meaning that a video that lacks real character, powerful message, suspense and colourful texture, would become an island to itself because the more people that watched a video, demonstrates how interesting the video content is.

That is why when a short, comic marketing campaign video, tagged Vconnect feverbroke the YouTube chart recently attracting over 2 million viewers in just one week, it aroused the interest of mobile geeks in Nigeria who are calling for reviews of the video’s technical production mechanics in order to enlighten and educate young Nigerian video makers.

The VConnect Fever video, accessed through the link (https://www.youtube.com//watch?V=WJuo3s09ma4 ) a promotional musical video for VConnect, one of Nigeria’s local search engines. The video is a comic action in which two humorous characters gate crashed into the studios of a Nigerian music producer, OJB Jezreel, who was in company of another top video director, DJ Tee. Before OJB Jezreel and DJ Tee could have them thrown out, they started a pidginrap demonstrating that all their accessories were purchased searching through VConnect.

The video, according to the company’s General Manager Mr. Deepankar Rustagi, was conceptualized to further connect the users of search engine to the brand and reinforce its varied offerings to prospective users, especially the teeming youth as well as SME’s who make use of the portal to connect with customers.
