Despite appointing an acting Director-General for the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), in the person of Ms. Patricia Bala by the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, some stakeholders of the industry are still jostling for the board’s top position.
Those who are jostling for the job, according to our findings have already submitted their credentials, and are waiting patiently for an invitation from the ministry. They include; AMAA boss, Peace Anyima-Osigwe, Madu Chikendu, Alex Eyengho and ace-film maker, Mamudu Ali-Balogun.
In a statement by Mr Yunusa Tanko, the Deputy Director and Head of Corporate Affairs of the board, in Abuja, the Minister announced the appointment of Ms Bala as the acting D-G of the regulatory agency.
It said that Maku had appointed Bala, a senior director in-charge of Verification and Classification, as the acting D-G following the expiration of the 7-year tenure of the D-G, Mr Emeka Mba.
“The Honourable Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, has approved the appointment of Ms Patricia Bala as the acting DG of the NFVCB effective Aug. 7,’’ the statement said. (NAN)
