‘Smart regulation crucial to broadband roll-out’
While the International Telecommunications Union's (ITU), 2012 regulatory report released last week highlighted the vital importance of national regulatory framework in accelerating broadband roll-out and stimulating the development of new digital goods and services, participants at the just concluded West African Information and Communication Technology Congress, (WAFICT) 2012 rose up from the conference saying that except effective national regulatory frameworks were put in place by the African governments including Nigeria, achieving broadband roll-out may be far fetched.

THE resounding gun shots from a four-man robbery gang on two commercial motorcycles popularly called okada, rattled residents of Apapa, last Thursday, with everyone taking to his heels. But at the centre of the scene of the gun shots was a woman who had gone to one of the new generation banks around Calcutta Crescent to withdraw an unspecified amount of money. The robbers who apparently laid ambush for her, opened fire to scare away intruders and dispossessed the helpless and fear-stricken woman of the withdrawn cash.

iOS 6: Apple drops Google Maps, debuts in-house ‘Maps’ in 3D mode
Apple has an incredible headline feature in development for iOS 6: a completely in-house maps application. Witness disowns signature…insists it was forged
A prosecution witness in the on-going trial of Mr. Yusuf Adeleke, a Lagos- based lawyer, before an Ikeja Magistrate Court, Lagos, Mr Monsuru Taiwo, yesterday, insisted that his signature was forged in respect of a suit before a Federal High Court, in Lagos in 2007.
