National Engineering and Technical Company Limited (NETCO) has announced the successful completion of the Escravos Produced Water Disposal project within a space of 6 months.
The project Manager Eng. Sarafa Ibrahim said in a statement that with the successful completion of the project, NETCO became the first indigenous Engineering Design Company to conclude a detailed engineering design project in less than six months.
He said “The Escravos Produced Water Disposal project is intended by Chevron Nigeria Ltd to design and implement a produced water disposal solution for the Escravos terminal that will be in full compliance with Nigeria Environment Regulation as well as meet Chevron’s Global Environmental Performance standard”
He also noted that the project will address future treated Produced Water from the on-going EGP3 and EGTL projects.
The project manager also stressed that currently, Produced Water (PW) and oil from CNL’s offshore and onshore swamp operation facilities are pumped to wash tanks in Escravos for partial separation.
“From the wash tank, the PW portion is sent to a skimmer vessel located at the dehydration terminal for processing.
“From the outlet of the skimmer vessel, the PW is sent to the existing flotation cells for further processing prior to disposal into the canal and in completion of the project, no PW was envisaged to be discharged overboard into the canal.
Ibrahim also explained that as part of the project, a new inflation cell of 100 MBWPD will be installed in parallel with the existing floatation cells to guarantee higher water quality.
“New pumps will be installed to move PW from the floatation system both from new and existing ones to a new Escravos surge vessel of 150 MBWPD which will also serve as a holding tank.
He noted that at the peak of the project, 78 personnel were fully mobilized.
“All team members mobilized on the project with the exception of two expatriate personnel were Nigerians, making the project to be in full compliance with Nigerian Content Development Monitoring Board (NCDMB) policy of domesticating Engineering Design in the country.
