An eye witness  who spoke under anonymity, said the auto crash occured at about

10.12pm on Saturday night when a trailer belonging  to Dangote Group of Companies loaded with  white sand and another construction company rammed into the bus conveying the students.

Shedding more lights on how the accident happened, the State Traffic Officer, ASP Olalekan  Fatola, said a truck on high speed, had overtaken the Dangote’s trailer  and had a body contact with the Truck, and the  effect of the abrasion  pushed the Dangote’s  Truck forward and hit the coaster conveying the students from behind.

The coaster conveying the students according to him, immediately swerved off the road and demolished the fence of the Aramoko Comprehensive Health Centre, located in the heart of the town.

Also, the Sector Commander of the

Federal Road Safety Commission, Ekiti State, Engr.  Kumven Rimdon, who were at the scene of the accident with his team, attributed the accident to over-speeding and lack of concentration on the part of the truck drivers.

Fatola said while  the driver of the Dangote’s truck was said to have been unlucky and was actively enmeshed in the accident,  the driver of the other truck had escaped  the scene unhurt. He appealed to the state government  to provide the Corps with patrol and towing vehicles to assist in such an emergency situation.

The sector commander noted  that his men  would have removed the truck blocking the way but for lack of these valuable equipment

In another development, the chairman of Ekiti West Local Government, Mr Tajudeen Akingbolu, pledged to offer an assistance in terms of accommodation to be used as their area office.
