Ndigbo urged to return home

BY CHIDI NKWOPARA
OWERRI—Ndigbo living in the troubles zones of the north have been urged to relocate immediately to their ancestral homes in the South East for their own safety.

A non-governmental group, Imo Mass Movement, IMM, made the appeal during its first quarter conference in Owerri, Imo State capital.

“Igbos living in the volatile zones of the Northern States are advised to return home. No Igboman has any genuine reason to reside in a region where his life and property is not secure,” leader of the group, Comrade Godsent Chilos, said.

He regretted what he called “the systematic ethnic cleansing being waged against Ndigbo living in the North”, pointing out that “what is happening at present in the North was not different from the pogrom of the 1960s.

When asked if Ndigbo should abandon their investments worth billions of Naira and return to a life of uncertainty in their homeland, Chilos reminded those with this mindset that it was better to remain alive than remaining in a place where life was not worth a kobo.

He said the solution to the challenges facing the country was to allow self-determination to the people of the South East.
