FG urged to integrate alternative medicine practice


ENUGU – Practitioners of alternative medicine in the country have called on the Federal Government to integrate alternative medicine into the nation’s health programme to achieve maximum health for all.

The Coordinator General of Luminary International Centre for Health and Alternative Medicine, Mgbowo, in Awgu local government of Enugu State, Prof. Joseph Akpa, said government’s negative attitude towards promotion and development of alternative medicine in Nigeria, was the cog in the wheel of Nigeria’s health development.

Speaking  at Mgbowo, during the graduation of 35 persons who have passed through  alternative medicine training, in conjunction with Open International University of Alternative Medicine Kolkata India, Prof Akpa said it was important for all government at all levels to pay attention to alternative medicine now.

He appealed to the Federal Ministry of Health to fund Enugu State Campus of the Federal College of Complementary and Alternative Medicine to enable it contribute to the national  health development programme.

”It is our desire to develop all the deciplines in Energy Medical science to a level we can export this knowledge to other countries of the world, build Universities, collages and research centers,” Akpa said.

He said that with the knowledge of Energy Medicine a lot of ailments being suffered such as High and Low Blood pressure,Heart attack and other Heart related problems, stress/tension among many others could easily be treated with out applying medicine.

According to him, “the stress of the past traumatic experiences, neurotic patterns of the day to day living cause emotional,mental and physical blocage, as well as anger,sadness and worry due to pressure from personal activities,work loads social and environmental problems can cause in balance in our health.”

He explained that the blocked emotions, whether conscious or not, lock the homeostatic or natural balancing mechanism of the body restricting the proper functioning of the body system that most of these traumas find their way in  the heart.

Akpa said that with proper attention and development in alternative medicine all these problems would be treated and cured
