Unilag hosts Glo G-BAM Hi5ive launch

Thousands of students of University of Lagos (UNILAG) last weekend thronged the school’s auditorium to witness the launch of Globacom’s unique tariff package, G-BAM Hi5ive.

The product earlier introduced to the Lagos public last year allows subscribers to call five special numbers at five kobo per second. It also offers subscribers several other attractive benefits including free airtime, free night calls and the lowest SMS charges in the Nigerian telecoms market.

Globacom said in a statement that it decided to take G-BAM Hi5ive to the student communities across the country because ofits popularity among the youths segment of the market. So far, the product has been launched at the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus, University of Benin, University of Ibadan and the University of Port Harcourt, while arrangements have been concluded to take it to the University of Abuja.

The Unilag launch had in attendance students and officials of the University. Also in attendance were Glo Ambassadors Funke Akindele and Odulade Adekola, while popular comedian Okey Bakassi anchored the show.

Glo also added fun and excitement to the lunch with dancing competitions organized for the students. Adebimpe Sodiq emerged female winner of the completion, while Maro Marcy Aderonola emerged winner of the male contest. Both were presented with high-end Samsung dual-sim phones.

Glo charged the students to take advantage of the offering and be among the 250 students that will earn $5,000 scholarships every quarter. The company also explained other unique selling points of the package which include affordable call rate of 5k per second to 5 friends, free weekend chatting, N500 free airtime on activation/recharge, free facebook browsing and night calls.

Hip hop sensation and member of the Mo Hits crew Wande Coal made it an evening to remember as he entertained the students with his popular tracks including Kiss Your Hand. The students went wild with frenzy when he sang his dance-hall track “Bumper to Bumper” as they danced to the song into late hours of the evening. Many of the students who emerged winners in a lucky dip  went home with dual sim phones, sim cards and recharge cards.
