Abuja – A 31-year-old man, Shammit Abduljamal, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Abuja Chief Magistrates’ Court, charged with dangerous and reckless driving.

Police prosecutor Buba Irimiya told the court that Mr Sinelam Nwadiogbu on March 9 lodged a complainant at the Utako Police Station, Abuja, against the accused.

He said the accused drove his white Toyota truck with registration No. EY 632A BJ carelessly without consideration to other road users.

The prosecutor said that in the process, the accused ran into a 504 pick-up vehicle, with registration No. XA 723 KUJ, which the complainant was driving.

He said that as a result of the accused person’s action, the vehicle was seriously damaged.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 28(1) and 29(1) of the Road Traffic Amendment Law.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty and Chief Magistrate Musa Jobbo granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

The case was adjourned to April 2 for hearing. (NAN)
