BY BARTHOLOMEW MADUKWE
Transition Chairman, Akoko Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, Mr Anselm Agbabi, has commended the state governor, Mr Adams Oshiomhole for providing the enabling environment for local government chairman to do their work.

He added that his ability to touch the 10 wards in the council was due to the leadership style of the state governor.

He spoke to newsmen in Benin City, saying: “The people can see and feel what the governor is doing in the entire state. In my council, the people are grateful to have him and will do all within their limit to return him to office because that is the only way they can pay him back..

“When a man like Oshiomhole gives you an assignment, you just cannot afford to fail; in clear terms, the governor told us to focus on education and such other projects that will have direct impact on a greater number of our people”.

“Since he gave this matching order, it has not been business as usual. For me, I have been on my toes from one community to another hamlet and from one town to another village. For seven months now, I have hit the ground running because there would be no excuse as to why I failed. The governor is a result oriented person whose record of achievements in three and half years is unrivalled. The governor has a large heart and the required political will which is why I decided to take after him by making sure we complete projects in all the 10 wards of the council.”

Enumerating some of those projects he executed within the period under review, Agbabi who was a former Chief Whip, Edo State House of Assembly, said, “we constructed a three classroom block with headmaster’s office in ward 7.

In doing this, we made sure we deployed the best materials. In the same ward, we drilled a 150mm PVC (internal diameter) casing/construction of structural stand with 7,000 liters plastic tank at Ogugu community and constructed a block of three classrooms with headmaster’s office at Ayami Primary School, Ugboshi-Ele.
