UGHELLI—YOUTHS in Ughelli, Delta State under the auspices of Coalition of Urhobo Youths Movement, CUYM, Thursday, thronged the streets of Ughelli in protest, supporting the removal of fuel subsidy.

The youths, who marched through some major streets in the metropolis, called on President Goodluck Jonathan to remain focused and resolute in his determination to revamp the economy of the nation.

Speaking to newsmen, leader of the group, Mr. Rex Anighoro, said the removal of fuel subsidy was in the interest of the Nigerian masses, saying those protesting against the removal were being misled by the cabal benefiting from the fuel subsidy to the detriment of Nigerians.

He said the biggest beneficiaries of the fuel subsidy were the elite and the rich, saying: “The few rich oil cabal, who import fuel really are the beneficiaries of our commonwealth, they are the one per cent oil cabal, who profit at the expense of the 99 per cent of us.”

According to him, “rather than say no to the fuel subsidy removal, we should give government time frame to put concrete structures on ground to keep her promise to the people,” accusing the oil cabal of sponsoring the ongoing labour protest and strike across the country.
