Our dear nation needs and deserve peace and stability if we are to match the expectation of becoming a global nation of, and for development.”

These were the candid words of Dr. Michael Olawale-Cole, new president/Council chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) during his investituture, where he said that for Nigeria  to attain its economic and human development potential, a relative peaceful environment should always be on the country’s  existential menu, whilst using the opportunity to call on all the perpetrators to desist from killing innocent people, but  to chose a peaceful route  to resolving whatever the disputes and issues are.

He noted that the consequences of not strategically addressing the malaise are beyond human and material loses. “It is sad and regrettable that have lost many innocent lives and valuables as a result of the indecent acts by a few non patriots. These damage must stop,” he echoed.

He went further to say that the nation can be among the first 20  industrialized nations of the world by 2020, “if it continues to move and manage in the form currently displayed by our nation.”

His words, “The current topmost nations are not waiting nor slumbering, or waiting for others to displace them. These nations are perpetually finding ways to sustain their development, as they continuously innovate to move their countries to greater heights. They are not static.

Therefore, it will be wishful thinking if we want to be one of them when we appear to be in deep slumber whilst some leading countries are awake and flying high.”

Continuing, he said, ‘For Nigeria to “arise and shine,” the current violence the nation is experiencing must be called to other. No divided nation can “arise and shine” if violence permeate its social order. No country can achieve economic growth and development in a state of chaos and violence, such as we are experiencing at the moment, he advised.
