ABUJA – Ahead of the January 14, 2012 gubernatorial election in Adamawa State, Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, has disclosed that Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state was afraid of the growing acceptance and popularity of General Buba Marwa hence its allegations that CPC candidate plans to rig the election.
In a statement by CPC Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Waziri, entitled Rigging: PDP’s Allegation, Sign of Being Afraid of General Marwa, the party said: “The attention of Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Adamawa State Chapter, has been drawn to media publication credited to the chairman of PDP, Adamawa State chapter, Mr. Umaru Kugama, alleging that CPC was planning to rig the 2012 gubernatorial election in the state.
“While this allegation is wild and laughable, it is common knowledge among the electorate in Adamawa State, that PDP is the king of all rigging and electoral malpractices, hence the electorate who said they are tired of the bad governance of PDP under Nyako, have vowed to ensure that there was no place for rigging in the January 2012 election.
“It is this fear of the determination of Adamawa voters to fight PDP and Governor Nyako’s planned rigging that make them jittery and uncomfortable with General Marwa’s stature and acceptability by Adamawa State electorate, irrespective of class, religion or ethnic affiliations.
“CPC is, therefore, calling on the good people of Adamawa State and voters to ignore this unsubstantiated and nonsense statement from PDP state Chairman, Mr. Kugama and ensure that their votes are cast, counted and guarded.”
