President tasks Nigerians on environment

ABUJA—Worried by environmental degradation in the country, President Goodluck Jonathan, Tuesday, challenged Nigerians to collaborate with the Federal Government to ensure the protection of the environment.

The President, who stated this at the fifth national stakeholders’ forum and celebration of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, NESREA, at five, noted that the environment gave wealth, adding that it was imperative for everybody to protect the environment for the children yet unborn.

President Jonathan, who was represented on the occasion by Vice-President Namadi Sambo, said: “The environment is our national responsibility, it provides us with the food we eat, the air we breath and the water we drink.

Minister of Environment, Hajia Hadiza Mailafia, said environmental challenges did not have any barrier and was, therefore, imperative for all hand to be on deck.
