Ahead of the Orange CAF Confederation semi-final first leg against Club Africain of Tunisia, Sunshine Stars of Akure coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has said his side will win with a commanding lead when the sides clash in Ijebu -Ode this weekend.
On their preparation for the crucial encounter, Ogunbote told Cafonline.com, “We are doing our best to get the boys ready for the big game on Saturday. All the players know what is at stake and l am sure they will be ready come match day.”
The Nigerian debutantes in continental football have had a meteoric rise in the competition and the sweat merchant said he won’t be surprised if the team get to the final.
“I won’t be surprised at all. In fact, that is our target and has been from the onset and we thank God that so far we have reached the semi final of this competition and we are still focusing on getting to and winning the final.”
The fact that Sunshine Stars’ opponents eliminated another Nigerian side, Kaduna United does not bother Ogunbote.
“We are two different teams and we know how crucial and challenging this match is, so we will redouble our efforts so as to win the match. Playing in this club competition brings exposure and to the fans glamour. Most importantly, when the team is doing well everybody wants to identify with winners so Sunshine is ready to succeed.
Continuing, Ogunbote said there was a huge responsibility on their shoulders as Nigeria’s only surviving team in the competition.
“Of course, all eyes are on us to see if we will deliver considering the fact that no Nigerian team has ever won this cup before .We will push harder so as not to disappoint the country and our fans.
