ABAKALIKI—SENATOR Sunny Ogbuoji who represents Ebonyi South senatorial district of Ebonyi State at the National Assembly, yesterday, declared that the present security challenges facing the country were incapable of disintegrating the nation, despite contrary observations of some persons he described as “enemy of one Nigeria.”
He expressed hope that security agencies in the nation were capable of tackling the menace adding that what was required at this point were effective intelligence report gathering, implementation of
findings, arrest of suspected culprits and reawakening of security consciousness among Nigerians.
The Senator, who made the declaration while fielding questions from newsmen in Abakaliki, affirmed that the present saga on security would soon become a thing of the past like other issues that had once reared their heads in the growth and development of the nation.
Ogbuoji ,who is also the Vice-Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, called on the Federal Government to introduce metro railway transportation system in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT which, according to him, will assist in curbing the hiccup gradually affecting the transportation system within and outside Abuja.
He also tasked the federal government on the overhauling of the transportation sector in the country to curb rural-urban migration and create more employment opportunities to facilitate the growth of the
economy.
The senator, who stressed the need for the construction and allocation of permanent legislative quarters to Senatorial Districts and Federal Constituencies in the country, described the sale of Apo Legislative Quarters in Abuja to individuals as a wrong decision, even as he appealed to government to review its plan.
On the completion of Abakaliki-Afikpo federal road, which is currently in a deplorable state, the senator noted that arrangement had already been put in place to mobilize the contractor handling the project to go back to site within the month.
