By Patrick Omorodion

Following the success of the Nigerian Independent Corporate run held last year, the Lagos State Endowment fund has kick-started plans for the 2011 edition.

Executive Secretary of LSSEF, Babatunde bank-Anthony disclosed in Lagos Wednesday, that the 2011 edition earlier scheduled to hold October 2 to mark Nigerian 51st independence has been shifted to November 7, 2011.

As usual, the start point for the mini marathon is the Tafawa Balewa Square while finish points is the bar Beach in Victoria Island, Bank-Anthony said, adding that 3,000 participant are expected to participate.

He said that 2011 Run is important for Lagos State as the LSSEF expects to plow some of the proceeds into ensuring that the Sate not only host the 2012 national Sports Festival well but that her athletes will be well prepared to do the State proud.

“We expect to organize the National Sports festival well because we don’t want to disappoint Nigerians.

“As a result, funds realized from the marathon will be plowed into sports development for the state’s participation at the National Sports Festival,” Bank-Anthony said.
