Lagos – A driver, Adebisi Oyedotun, 30, was on Friday charged before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly breaking into his employer’s flat and stealing the sum of N350,000.
Oyedotun, who is facing trial on a two-count charge of stealing, pleaded not guilty.
Chief Magistrate Abiola Sholadoye ordered the court’s registrar, Mr Sidis-Ayegbemi Johnson to read out the charge and take Oyedotun’s plea because of the absence of the prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Olaide.
Johnson stated that the accused, on Sept. 18, broke into Mrs Folashade Yahaya’s flat at Eric Moore Height, Surulere area of Lagos and allegedly stole N350,000.
According to the charge sheet, the offences contravened Sections 390 (9) and 412 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
Sholadoye, however, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned the case till Nov. 9 for further hearing.
Another driver, Rotimi Adeoti was arraigned for allegedly stealing the gear box of a Mercedes Benz truck belonging to a businessman in the same court.
The accused was said to have stolen a vehicle part valued at N100,000.
The accused, who is facing a one-count charge of stealing, pleaded not guilty.
According to the charge sheet, the offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos.
The chief magistrate granted Adeoti N50,000 bail with two sureties each in like sum.
The case was adjourned till Nov. 9 for further hearing. (NAN)
