SenatOR Florence Ita-Giwa has described as false the report credited to WikiLeaks that she was one of those alleged to have embezzled or misappropriated Nigeria’s resources.
According to a statement entitled, ‘My Wiki is not leaking’, “the report, inadvertently or mischievously -but definitely not factually- named Senator Florence Ita-Giwa as one of those purportedly ‘alleged’ to have “embezzled” or “misappropriated” the nation’s “resources”. To say the least this is baseless, unfounded, wicked and mischievous!”
The statement went on: “Whereas it provided some details concerning a few of those it mentioned -and even though concerning several others, it gave very sketchy details-, the report is quite un-Wiki-like fashion, only tersely and in passing, listed others including Senator Ita-Giwa as “alleged” to have “also defrauded” Nigeria.
“The report did not say whether the senator ‘defrauded’ Nigeria in her capacity as a member of the House of Reps, or of the Senate (of which at various times she was), or whether she did so when she was Special Adviser (NAS) to former Presidents Obasanjo and the late Yar’Adua, respectively.
“Thus to discerning readers, ‘this very Wiki Leak’ report, at least, as it concerns Senator Ita-Giwa, evidently gasps under serious want of facts, of details and most importantly of any credible attribution –not even attribution to the very basic ‘hear say’ doctrine that Wiki Leaks is known to rely on as authority”.
