Benoit Assou-Ekotto forsees no more backlash from Tottenham fans for new striker Emmanuel Adebayor once he starts banging in the goals.
The former Arsenal hitman will don a Spurs shirt while on loan for the season after manager Roberto Mancini deemed him excess baggage at Manchester City.
While Adebayor’s arrival at White Hart Lane has incurred the ire of Lilywhites supporters, Assou-Ekotto believes their displeasure is only temporary.
“I don’t think there will be any trouble with the Spurs fans and Emmanuel,” the Ivorian left-back told skysports.com.
“The fans when they come to the stadium they come to watch football and give their best to the team and I am sure they will support Emmanuel.
“For sure when he used to play for Arsenal the fans did not like him, but for us everyone will love him if he scores 25 goals this season.
“Emmanuel is a great player and I believe he will be a great signing for Spurs this season.”
