PHCN vandals: More culprits convicted

Following the increasing destruction of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, PHCN, equipment in Lagos, security agencies and community members have been sensitized and mobilized to be more vigilant and alert to the activities of vandals f PHCN equipment within their networks.

The Chief Executive Officer of the PHCN Ikeja Electricity Distribution Zone, Mr Okaa Akamnonu, revealed that between January and August 2011, about seven Electricity vandals have been convicted by various courts within the network of the zone.

Okaa said in a press statement identified some of the vandals as Taye Adguje, who was sentenced to one year imprisonment at the Bolade/Oshodi Magistrate Court; while Elvis Osaro and Nnamdi Ifejioku were sentenced to nine years imprisonment each at Somolu Magistrate Court and Bestman Ekuma got 18 months imprisonment at Ogudu Magistrate court.

The Ikeja chief executive appreciated the efforts of the Lagos State Government, security agencies and community leaders in apprehending the culprits while urging various courts to speed up prosecution of cases on vandalism pending in the courts to serve as restraint to s who might want to toe the line of vandals whose activities amount to economic sabotage.
