Following the tension and uncertainty generated by the purported interception of 700 explosives by soldiers attached to Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army two weeks ago at the city gate Abuja, and clarification by the Inspector General of Police, Hafiz Ringim, that they were dynamite explosives used for blasting of rocks at construction sites, the IGP yesterday met with manufacturers and distributors. At the meeting the IG spelt out new modalities for the purchase and movement of such explosives.
Post-election violence c’ttee to submit report soon
The Presidential Committee on post-election violence across the country would soon submit its report after concluding its public hearing. Vanguard gathered yesterday that the Panel had already gathered memoranda from different parts of the country on violent incidents that erupted after the last general elections in the country.
