Yenagoa – The Labour Party candidate for the Yenagoa-Kolokuma-Opokuma Federal Consti-tuency election, Mr. Udengs Eradiri was, yesterday, arraigned before a Yenagoa Magistrate Court over alleged perjury.
The charge against him read: “You gave information which you knew or believe to be false by stating that you attended Agudama Com-prehensive High School, Agudama-Ekpetiama from 1989 to 1996 with the intention of causing Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to accept your application and disqualified Mr. Ifiemi Ikpaikpai for the election and thereby committed an offence puni-shable under Section 100(1) of the Criminal Code Laws of Bayelsa State 2006.”
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecution alleged that Eradiri, 34, lied under oath, thereby committing an offence punishable by law.
The trial Magistrate, Mr. Lukie James, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N200,000 and a surety resident within the jurisdiction of the court.
Further hearing in the matter, was adjourned till September 15, 2011.
