BY VINCENT UJUMADU

AWKA—ANAMBRA State, weekend, celebrated five years of absence of polio in the state and used the occasion to immunize children and distribute drugs and insecticide nets to pregnant women and nursing mothers to prevent the spread of malaria.

Governor Peter Obi, who spoke at the polio eradication awareness and campaign for breast feeding at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiala, said his administration would continue to take measures to ensure that no child was exposed to polio and malaria.

To drive home the seriousness of the battle against polio, the government promised N10,000 to anybody who provided information on  any child suffering from the disease in any part of the state.
