ABAKALIKI —The Chairman, Ebonyi State Coordinators’ Forum, Elder Nwode Eche, has been reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Abakaliki.

Eche who is the Coordinator of Ikwo Development Centre in Ikwo LGA and a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the State was kidnapped last night at Azuiyiokwu in Abakaliki by armed men.

Saturday Vanguard gathered tthat he victim was removed from his Toyota Corolla and transferred to another vehicle and sped off before passers- by could realize what was happening.

When contacted on telephone, the Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP John Eluu, confirmed the incident, adding that men of the Command were still investigating the circumstances behind the kidnap.

Eluu said the command had swung into action to secure the release of the Coordinator while investigation had commenced into the matter.

However, an undisclosed source noted that the kidnappers had contacted the family of the victim to negotiate his release.
It could be recalled that three Coordinators of Development Centres were kidnaped by gunmen in Afikpo-South local government area of Ebonyi state in March this year in which thirty million naira was paid to secure their release
