The Lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola has declared that Lagos was ready to host the nation next year for the 18th National Sports Festival, which the state won the right to host.

DELTA State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, yesterday, asked the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba, to dismiss the petition against him by the Democratic Peoples Party, DPP, governorship candidate in the last governorship election in the state, Chief Great Ogboru, on the grounds that Ogboru had abandoned the said petition.

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Delta State Chapter, yesterday, objected to the proposed establishment of Islamic banking by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, even as the Council of Imams and Ulamas in Kaduna State described the objection as, “insulting, insensitive and provocative,” saying it was a clear exhibition of ignorance on what the banking system was all about.
