The value of listed equities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), represented by the Market capitalisation, appreciated last week by N42.76 billion.
The capitalisation which opened the week at N8.258 trillion surged by 0.52 per cent to close at N8.301trillion, while the All-share index, another key performance indices soared by 0.52 per cent or 133.75 basis points to close at 25,963.50 points from 25,829.75 points.
Nigerian Breweries Plc recorded the most share price appreciation, rising by N6.48 or 7.4 per cent to close at N93.99 per share, Chemical & Allied Products Plc followed with a gain of N3.81 or 15.7 per cent to close at N28.09 per share and UAC of Nigeria Plc recorded N2.84 or 7.45 per cent to close at N40.95 per share.
Other share price gainers include: Lafarge WAPCO Plc N2.23, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc N1.10, Dangote Cement Plc N1.00, Oando Plc N1.00, Forte Oil Plc N0.85, Presco Plc N0.69,
UACN Property Development Company Plc N0.66, among others.
On the other hand, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc recorded the most share price loss, dropping by N2.99 or 5.11 per cent to close at N55.50 per share, Nigerian Bottling Company Plc followed with a loss of N1.49 or 4.03 per cent to close at N35.50 per share and Cadbury Nigeria Plc dipped by N1.03 or 4.73 per cent to close at N20.75 per share.

A turnover of 1.147 billion shares valued at N11.51 billion was recorded in 27,440 deals this week, in contrast to a turnover of 1.326 billion shares valued at N10.2 billion exchanged by investors in 27,440 deals, in contrast to the previous week’s turnover of 1.326 billion shares valued at N10.2 billion in 27,440 deals.
The Banking sub-sector was the most active during the week, accounting for 52.05 per cent of the total market turnover, with 597.16 million shares valued at N5.55 billion in 11,192 deals. Volume in the Banking sub-sector was largely driven by activity in the shares of Zenith Bank Plc trading 139.74 per cent of the market turnover with 2,10 billion in 1,366 deals, First Bank of Nigeria Plc followed with 74.77 million shares valued at one million in 2,280 deals and Access Bank Plc recorded 63.10 million shares valued at N481.87 million in 965 deals.
