Abia Assembly to screen 19 commissioner nominees

Umuahia— ABIA State governor, Chief Theodore Orji, has sent 19 nominees to the State House of Assembly for screening and approval as commissioners, with six members of the immediate past cabinet and three women making the list.

A former Special Assistant and Transition Committee Chairman who was sworn-in five days ago, also made the list.
The returning commissioners include Dr. Nick Eleri, former Finance Commissioner; Mr. Kalu Umeh, the immediate past Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice; Dr. Okechukwu Ogah.

Others are Mr. Solomon Adaelu who served as Commissioner in the Ministry of Utility; Mr. Emma Nwabuko, former commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, regarded as a strong kitchen cabinet member and Mr. Solomon Ogunji, former commissioner for Environment.

The new nominees are Dr. Sampson Orji, sworn-in last Friday as Transition Committee Chairman for Arochukwu; Mr. Akujobi Nkoro, a lawyer;  Mrs. Uloma Ikpeazu; Mrs. M. O Philips, who runs a very flourishing private school in Umuahia; Mr. Charles Nwafor, a lawyer; and Mr. M.O.Ochiobi.

Others include Mr. K.O.Mgbeahuru; Mr. Ike Onyenweaku, a for Special Adviser;, Mr. Nene Nwuzor, Chief Okezie Orji; Chief Don Ubani and Mr. Vigilus Nwabuko, another lawyer.

According to a statement by Mr. Boni Iwuoha, Governor Orji’s  Adviser on Media, the names will be sent to the State Security Service, SSS, for screening before they are screened by the  House.
