NIS parades 9 suspects for visa racketeering

ABUJA— The Nigerian Immigration ServiceWednesday paraded nine members of a syndicate who specialized in the issuance of fake e-passport and other forms of travel documents, including visa.

The syndicate, which was apprehended, was said to be operating along Lagos-Ogbomosho axis, issuing fake visas to the United Kingdom, Swizerland, South Africa and France.

According to the Comptroller General of Immigration, Mrs Rose Uzoma, “the NIS has taken steps to ensure that Nigerians have authentic passports by following due process.”

She also called on Nigerians to visit immigration web-site to download their forms and personally pay directly to the bank for issuance of e-passport.
