UYO-A GANG of assassins, operating on motorcycles, yesterday, shot dead a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Anthony Udom, in broad daylight.

Eye witnesses said the incident occurred at about 11 am at Obio Imoh junction along Udo Umana Street in Uyo. The eye witness said the retired police officer who was driving a Peugeot 406 Saloon car was attacked by four gun men and shot at severally, killing him instantly.

 Udom, a native of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area of the state served as assistant commissioner of police, ACP, in Bayelsa State before his retirement and was heading toward the Udo Umana area of Uyo.

Vanguard gathered that on noticing his assailant, the late Udom tried to escape but was blocked by the gun trotting hoodlums.

It was gathered that the killers ransacked the former police boss’ car and made away with several items  including his bag containing some money before fleeing the scene of the incident.
