3SC hope to avoid relegation, improve on performance

By KATE OBODO
Coach of Shooting Stars Football Club, Fatai Amoo  has said their priority for the next round of the Premier League is to correct all the  errors committed  in the first half of the season in order  to avoid relegation.

While some  clubs are offloading and signing new players for the second half, coach Amoo revealed  they do not hope to  discard or sign any player as they believe that their poor run in the league so far was a collective effort of both the players, coaching crew and the management and not only the players.

“Really we do not have the intention of  removing  or signing new players, we still hope to retain them. Though we  did not do badly in terms of performance, but in terms of result it was bad. We cannot  equate our performance with result, the result has been woeful. It is not 100 percent the players’ fault, there were so many contributing factors.

The failure is not only the players fault but all the departments, that is why we have planned to  take care of the  areas we have not  really done well and hope it will come out good this time around.

“The focus for the next round is to ensure we do  better and see how we can move up and not to apportion blame to the players .

And we are going to  make sure we work assiduously to  correct those terrors made. Initially we  had an ambition to finish within the top five.

However, it is not going to be a do or die affair, we are going to follow the rules and regulation guiding the game. The worst that could happen to us is to see us not  maintain our position on the Premiership,” he said.

Our target  is to win the league  – Bosso

Kano Pilliars coach Ladan  Bosso says they have no cause to  settle for less in  the second half of the season  as their target is to win the title.

In the first half, Pillars ended up on the 11th  position.  With two players signed for the second half of the season, the former Flying Eagles coach said they are set  for the challenges of the second round.

According to him, they  have  identified their problem areas and confident they will correct the mistakes.
“Just like any other club, we enjoyed the short break of  the season, and the purpose of this was to make amends. For us, we are have made mistakes but confident that we will work according to our arrangement and agreement  for the rest of the season.

“The second half will be filled with challenges and we are ready for the task ahead . Every club will be coming out  with a new strategy and ours is not an exception.

So far so good, we are much prepared for the season especially as we have known our problems for the last half of the season. Despite our position at the end of the first half, our targets  is to win the league,” Bosso said.

Dolphins vow to maintain lead as league resumes

Table topers, Dolphins, are not leaving any stone unturned as they prepare to play their first match of the second stanza of the Premier League with the title in view.

Inside Out Premier League gathered that the team did not go on break despite the several postponements of resumption date of the concluding half of the league.

Making this known, Club Secretary, Ahmed Abdulraman said that the team are poised to maintain the momentum of the first stanza and are elated the league is resuming after a long wait.

“It is very exciting that the league is resuming once again as the NPL had to make sure everything is in place before calling for its resumption.

“For us at Dolphins, what we are tying to do is just to make sure we sustain and maintain what we deed in the first round so that we can get a good performance. We did not allow the players to go on break because we did not want them to lose focus on the title.

“We are still doing what we as management should do to make the club successful even as our sponsor (Rivers State Government) is dishing out what’s due for the players in terms of sign-on fees and bonuses.

“The boys are still training because we know that the league is very tough and no team is a push-over. We are on top today by the virtue of hard work, not that we are better than all the teams that are bottom on the log.

“We want to start the second half of the league with the same zeal and determination we had at the beginning on the of the season,” Abdulraman said.
