ABEOKUTA —THE ambition of the Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Chief Adetunji Olurin, yesterday got a boost with his endorsement by 16 political parties under the aegis of the Ogun State chapter of the Coalition of Registered Political Parties, CORPP.

Earlier, the state chapter of the United National Party for Development, UNPD, had endorsed Olurin for tomorrow’s election.

The parties are the Congress for Democratic Change, CDC, Action Alliance, AA, Nigeria Advanced Party, NAP, African Democratic Congress, ADC, and Peoples Mandate Party, PMP, among others.

In a statement by the Chairmen of the 16 political parties, they said they arrived at the decision after a careful analysis of the political scene. The parties described Olurin as mature, experienced and credible, and urged the electorate to come out en masse and vote for him tomorrow.

They, however, condemned the spate of violence that trailed the Presidential election in some parts of the country.

….As ADC denies endorsing Isiaka

THE alleged endorsement of the Ogun State Governorship candidate of Peoples Party of Nigeria, PPN, Mr. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka by 12 other political parties suffered a set back yesterday as one of the parties, the African Democratic Congress, ADC, denied endorsing and said it has endorsed the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Adetunji Idowu Olurin.

12 political parties under the aegis of Coalition of Registered Political Parties, CORPP, had at a press conference in Abeokuta announced the adoption of Isiaka, saying that he has the best chance to win the election.

At the press conference were people who said that they were the Chairmen of the 12 parties with Mr. Ayodele Olootu claiming to be the Chairman of ADC.

But in a swift reaction, the Chairman of the ADC; Chief M. O Adekanbi denied categorically the endorsement of Isiaka by the party, saying that the party in fact endorsed Olurin.

Adekanbi in a statement  said “the endorsement of any other candidate apart from Chief Olurin of the PDP is a blatant lie, fraudulent and should be disregarded as it does not worth the plain paper on which the purported endorsement was forged.
