AWKA-MINISTER of Women Affairs, Mrs. Josephine Anehih, has denied diverting N150 million meant for disbursement to candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to assist them in their campaigns for the forthcoming elections in Anambra State.
Some of the candidates had complained that while their colleagues in other states received grants from the party headquarters in Abuja, the money meant for disbursement to Anambra candidates was allegedly diverted by the minister.
Vanguard gathered that following complaints by some of the candidates to the PDP headquarters, a meeting between the candidates and minister was held at the country home of the minister at Amawbia on Monday where the issue was resolved.
Anenih, who fielded questions on the issue from reporters, said: “There is nothing like that. PDP has a tradition for assisting its candidates and the gesture is extended to Anambra candidates. Anybody trying to insinuate that any money was diverted was only trying to smear my image and I will not allow that to happen.”
