A citizen of Delta State, Oghenejabor Ikimi, who dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to court to stop the April gubernatorial election in the state, yesterday, denied the rumour that he was given N2 billion and a new Jeep by Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to file the suit for his tenure extension.

Ikimi told newsmen in Warri, Delta State“my attention has been drawn to the devilish rumour in Delta State to the effect that Governor Uduaghan gave me the sum of N2billion and a new Jeep to file the suit for his tenure extension at the Federal High Court, Asaba.”

“I state that the independent suit I filed as a Deltan and as a tax payer against INEC and  Uduaghan at the Federal High Court, Asaba is for the proper interpretation of Section 180 (2) of the 1999 Constitution and whether same applied to the governor, who was elected on January 6, 2011and sworn in on January 10, 2011 and whether INEC can conduct fresh governorship election in Delta State, come April,” he added.
