Samuel Adegboyega varsity begins academic activities

THE Samuel Adegboyega University, SAU, owned by The Apostolic Church Nigeria, will commence academic activities in the last quarter of this year. This follows the approval by the National Universities Commission, NUC, and presentation of operational license to the institution by the Minister of Education, Prof Ruquayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i recently.

This was made known by the Proprietor of the institution and National President of The Apostolic Church Nigeria, Pastor Gabriel Olutola during the presentation of the university operation licence to the Lagos, Western and Northern Area, LAWNA, of The Apostolic Church General Council and media briefing in Lagos, recently.

He said SAU, which is one of the four varsities presented with licence, is located in Ogwa, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, was poised to promote enterprise and innovation in all spheres of its programmes, adding that the university will take off with academic programmes in three Colleges, namely humanities, sciences and social and management sciences.

According to him, “other programmes that will commence during the second and third phases of the development of university include Post-graduate programmes, Colleges of Agriculture, Law, Environmental Studies, Education, Engineering and Medical Sciences.

Pastor Olutola, who outlined the philosophy, core values, vision and mission of the institution said: “The major concern of The Apostolic Church is to join the Federal Government in eradication cultism, cyber crime and other vices and thus make Samuel Adegboyega University a prime role model among other universities. The university from its inception possessed the arsenal to make this possible in Christ Jesus.”

In his address on the occasion, Chairman of the Programmes Implementation Committee, PIC, of the university, Professor Olusoji Ofi, said the take off campus is made up of a total of eight major buildings and some other smaller units namely: Administrative/Senate building; two academic buildings; two hostel blocks; a cafeteria; Works and Service yard.
