Abia State government yesterday debunked claims that President Goodluck Jonathan commissioned an uncompleted road project in Aba.

Action Congress of  Nigeria, ACN, governorship candidate in Abia State, Mr Paul Ikonne, alleged on Monday that the Aba/Owerri road had yet to be completed.

Ikonne, who made the allegation at the flag off of ACN’s presidential campaign in Aba, also alleged that the president commissioned a teaching hospital built by a former governor of old Imo State, Chief Sam Mbakwe.

But a statement issued by Mr Ugochukwu Emezue, the Special Adviser on Electronic Media to Governor Theodore Orji,  stated that Aba/Owerri road had been completed.

The statement, which said the ACN governorship candidate was “economical with the truth,” described his claims as mischievous.

“The Aba/Owerri road which was completed before the inauguration by the president is there for everybody to see.

“It is quite ridiculous that Ikonne could dish out falsehood all in the name of politics,” the statement said.

“For record purposes, Jonathan while in Aba inaugurated the new ultr-modern diagnostic centres in Aba and Umuahia  and not a teaching hospital,” it added.
