What can one find on your daily menu list?
As much as food is important, I still make sure that eating moderately is the order of the day.
Due to my tight schedule, I find it difficult have regular three square meal as it’s expected of an individual. But, if boxed into a corner, I do spaghetti and sauce garnished with lots of fishes.
I don’t have a special food. I eat anything that comes my way. But as much as possible, I make sure that my weekends are spent excellently. I spoil myself with wine and good food.
And what do you define as good food?
Foods that contain all that makes up a balanced diet.
And these are not the kind of stuff enjoyed by everyone but essentially, what supplies my body with good nutrients. Most importantly, my dinner must be well prepared. I appreciate any meal that goes with assorted meat and vegetable soup.
What was growing up like?
Talking about food, Kunle Afolayan is addicted to beans. I know all the rudiments and accompaniments required to cook a good meal of beans. I can eat beans with yam, dodo, garri, and bread.
Growing up was fun because I was getting beans at every corner. I remember there was a woman who was a specialist in the preparation of Ewa Agonyin (Togolese Beans). I enjoyed eating it with dodo and I don’t joke with it at all.
And because of the tasty nature of the meal, I took my time on daily basis to search for the place where it was best prepared. Beans for me then was the only food in existence. And I could do anything to have it because not only is it nutritious, it is also very palatable. I couldn’t trade it for anything else in the world then. .
Do you remember any pranks you played as a child to get beans at all cost?
Well, the only pranks I remember was sitting with a beans seller for hours.
The food wasn’t ready and I needed to eat before going to school, so, I had to sit with her until the food was finally cook.
And you were not late for school?
I got the school before my schoolmates. That’s my secret.

I still eat beans but not on regular basis as I used to. Now, I eat the most available food on my table. Eating spaghetti makes me feel good especially if it’s well prepared.
