As the Eagles began their training Tuesday, there was a general consensus that the visiting Ethiopian minnows need to fall with as much as five goals.

But Kanu is sounding a note of warning to the Eagles whom he advised to approach the game with all seriousness, but not anxiety.

“Ethiopia is a small team, we should be able to beat them. But the players should not go into game expecting a goal feast. African football has changed and the days are gone when smaller teams could be taken for granted.

“The boys should take the game as if they are playing in the world cup final. Nigerians are expecting a win and they should be able to work hard to get good results,”said Kanu.

He noted that the team was still in a building process and therefore Nigerian fans should be reasonable in their expectations from the team, he added that all the coaches and players need at the moment is the support of all football loving Nigerians.
